Description: Vanilla is a perennial herbaceous climbing vine that can grow up to 25 meters (82 feet) high and that is native to Central America and Mexico. In cultivation the deep trumpet-shaped flowers of the Vanilla must be hand-pollinated; while in Mexico the native humming bird does the work. The green capsules or fruit are picked, cured, and the immature Vanilla pod or bean is fermented and dried to turn it into a fragrant brown vanilla bean.

History: After civil wars and reduced availability, the price of Vanilla essential oil has risen to the point of most absolutes. Nonetheless, the true oil is recognized as being well worth the price.

Fold: Is the term used to describe the strength of the vanilla scent/smell. The higher the fold the stronger the strength is of the aroma and thicker the viscosity of the oil. Vanilla essences from the supermarket are around 2 fold

Aromatic Scent: Vanilla is one of the most well known scents. The essential oil has a rich, sweet, vanilla odor. Vanilla 10 fold aroma is more reminiscent of Vanilla essence but with a more well rounded and sweeter fragrance.

Strength of Aroma: Medium

Note: Middle-Base, minimal top notes

Blends well with: Bergamot, Grapefruit, Lemon, Mandarin, Orange, Sandalwood, Tangerine, and Vetiver.

Always dilute to 5% or less before using on the skin.

Skin test all products before using. Apply a small amount, about a drop or less, to the skin on your inner arm. Do not use if redness or irritation occurs. Keep all essential oils, perfume oils and fragrance products away from eyes and mucous membranes. If any oil gets in the eye rinse with full fat milk. If stinging continues seek medical advice.
